     However, very few media treat this issue with veracity and rigor, an essential issue when dealing with patients, since they can create false and high expectations, added to that they are in a delicate situation, and tired due to their own daily fight. The rigor and the veracity of the information are essential.

  • Anthony Scaramucci Says Trump Will Legalize Cannabis After The Midterm Elections. Anthony ‘The Mooch’ Scaramucci is convinced that President Trump will tackle marijuana legalization once the midterm elections wrap up. Although the former White House Communication Director didn’t last very long in the Trump administration, he claims to keep in contact with Trump. And those conversations apparently involve discussing Trump’s stance on cannabis.

  • Mexico's Supreme Court struck down the country's prohibition of marijuana. The nation's Congress has 90 days to repeal cannabis bans now considered unconstitutional. Mexico's incoming public safety secretary said that the Supreme Court's move to strike down marijuana prohibition is a "good decision" and will "have a positive impact on the reduction of violence and insecurity."
  • More than 20,000 people submitted comments ahead of the Wednesday deadline. And about half of those were gathered and hand-delivered to FDA headquarters by NORML, which created an online tool to streamline comments. Activists with NORML delivered 10,000 comments in support of marijuana rescheduling to the Food and Drug Administration. That’s about how many comments the organization delivered in April, in response to a similar FDA open comment period on cannabis. READ FULL STORY

  • A 2016 Drug Enforcement Administration filing on marijuana extracts is being challenged by the Flowering HOPE Foundation, a nonprofit.
  • A federal HEMP lawsuit continues on in West Virginia. The U.S. Attorney's office filed a civil suit against CAMO Hemp of West Virginia and Grassy Run Farms. The Federal lawsuit notes that Hemp  - which is part of the marijuana family - is still a controlled substance. The hemp seeds were not bought internationally as rules required; and, the U.S. Attorney says security measures at the farm are not adequate.
  • A New Mexico judge ruled that the state's 450-plant limit on medical cannabis dispensaries is arbitrary and capricious and has no factual basis. 
  • The U.S. Navy released a video warning service members and their families not to use marijuana, even in states where it is legal.

  • A poll of U.S. voters in congressional districts with competitive primaries found that Democrats support marijuana legalization, 84%-16%, and Republicans oppose it, 52%-48%.

  • Cannabis Executives, Investors See Asia Saying ‘Yes’ to Pot. The cannabis investor conference in Hong Kong this week started with some stern warnings against smoking pot in the city, which can land you in prison. Then folks got down to talking business.   • South Carolina regulators offered nearly twice as many industrial hemp permits this year as in 2017.

  • Lawmakers in Bangladesh approved a bill to expand the use of the death penalty for drug offenses.

Marijuana may be legal now in Canada but at least three Asian governments are warning their citizens to avoid it, including the spectre of possible arrest for Japanese and South Koreans. China, the latest to weigh in, didn’t go that far.   • The State Bank of North Dakota said it won't work with medical cannabis businesses.
  • Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND) says she voted against North Dakota’s marijuana legalization ballot measure. Her reelection opponent, Rep. Kevin Cramer (R-ND), also plans to vote against the cannabis initiative.
  • Michigan regulators approved a number of medical cannabis license applications but many dozens of others dispensaries are facing shutdown as a Wednesday licensing deadline looms. They also sent a clarification about applicants who miss the deadline but maintaining existing inventory while their proposals are considered.
  • A Michigan judge granted a temporary restraining order on a Wednesday medical cannabis licensing deadline, which will allow dispensaries to stay open.

  • New Report Estimates Over $1 Billion in Cannabis-Derived Taxes for Nevada. The report predicts that recreational marijuana sales should hit compounded sales of $4.9 billion by July 2024.
  • Alaska collected about $1.5 million in marijuana tax revenue in September.

  • Oregon regulators will hold a public hearing on technical changes to marijuana rules on November 16
  • Oregon hemp seed dispute leads to $21 million lawsuit. A batch of hempseeds in Oregon billed as CBD-rich females that turned out to be neither feminized nor high in the cannabinoid has led to a $21.2 million lawsuit. That’s how much six people say they lost after the seeds resulted in inferior plants, leading to the lawsuit against three seed dealers in a southern Oregon county, the Portland Business Journal reported.

  • On November 2nd, OLCC Commissioners Approve Stipulated Settlements for Recreational Marijuana Violations. Portland, Ore. --  At its monthly meeting October 26, 2018 the Commissioners of the Oregon Liquor Control Commission approved fines and/or marijuanalicense suspensions based on stipulated settlements: Among the results from several violations throughout the state, Oregon Bud Works will surrender its recreational marijuana producer license for ten violations.

  • Voting on a potential vote: Josephine County commissioner looks for support to possibly tax pot grows. JOSEPHINE COUNTY, Ore. — Oregon counties are not allowed to tax the marijuana industry - it's a state tax. With so much production in southern Oregon, some counties are trying to change that. "Until we get rid of the illegal side of it, it's going to be tough for the legal side to flourish," Josephine County Commissioner Chair Dan DeYoung said. This year's Josephine County Ballot features Measure 17-88: Would voters support a cannabis tax if it were possible? DeYoung calls the tax essentially a business license fee as it would only be imposed on growers, not consumers.
